Dubsado or SoloBase? It depends on the stage you are at.
Dubsado is a back-office tool for running a service business. SoloBase is a Studio under your own name: the door a referral walks through, a Client Hub for each client, and money into your own Stripe. Here is how to tell which one you need now.
Which one are you?
Most people land here at one of three stages.
You are getting started
Your clients come by referral, a few at a time. You have not bought a back-office tool, and your inbox is doing that job. What you need first is somewhere to send the next person who hears your name.
You tried the setup and stepped away
You signed up for a back-office tool, saw how much it wanted set up before the first client, and went back to email. Your work is a handful of close clients, not a queue.
Your back office already runs
It is set up, it works, and your week runs through it. You are not looking to move. You may still want a front door under your own name.
What SoloBase does
Headquarters for a company of one.
Your clients come by word of mouth, and many come back. A Studio is built around you and each of them.
A front door under your own name
When a referral looks you up, they find your card and the Studio Site behind it: what you do, whether you are taking clients, and one way to start. Your own domain on Pro.
From inquiry to paid
An inquiry from your card lands in your Requests. You accept it and send a proposal in their Client Hub; they sign by typing their name and pay the deposit, and numbered invoices follow.
A Client Hub per client that outlives the project
The brief, your notes, the files and each question, attached to the note it is about, in a private Client Hub only you and your client can open.
Money into your own Stripe, at 0%
Deposits, invoices and paid access go from your client straight to your own Stripe account, and SoloBase never holds the money.
Honestly
When Dubsado fits you better.
This is about your stage and the shape of your work, not about which tool is better.
Your back office is set up and working
If your week already runs through a back-office tool and you are happy with it, that is the stage you are at. Keep it.
Several people run the business
SoloBase is built around one person who is accountable for each client, with a small team beside them. A business where many people share one back office is a different shape.
Your follow-ups run on a schedule
If scheduled invoices and automated follow-ups are how your week runs, a tool for running a service business is built for that.
Dubsado or SoloBase, answered.
Do I have to choose one?
No. Some people keep the tool that runs their back office and add a Studio as the door and the Client Hub. If you have not bought one yet, you can start with your Studio and decide later.
What happens when a client sends an inquiry?
They send an inquiry from your card, and you accept it. Then you send a proposal in their Client Hub: they sign by typing their name and pay the deposit to your own Stripe.
Does SoloBase do proposals and e-signature?
Yes. You send the scope and price in your client’s Client Hub, they sign by typing their name, and the deposit goes to your own Stripe. The signed proposal is kept as a PDF. For a contract your lawyer drafted, keep the tool you use for it.
Does SoloBase take a cut of what my clients pay?
No. 0% on every plan. Money goes straight to your own Stripe account; Stripe’s standard processing fees apply.
What is live today?
Live: the card and Studio Site, the Content Hub, Client Hubs, proposals with e-signature and a deposit, numbered invoices, Community Hubs with channels and support, payments to your own Stripe, calls for up to 25 people, and booking at your open times.
Are you affiliated with Dubsado?
No. Product names are trademarks of their owners.
